About Chief Bauer

Chief Neil Bauer, Ed.D., is the Public Safety Director for Wyoming Public Safety, overseeing the overall operations, financial direction, and the strategy for the police department.  Chief Bauer also oversees the financial aspects of the fire department and supports Fire Chief Jesse Milligan with the strategy for the fire service. 

Chief Bauer came to the City of Wyoming after over twenty years with Woodbury Public Safety.  Chief Bauer believes that the foundation to organizational success is well-developed, trusting relationships, a clear strategy, and a commitment to being a learning organization.   Authentic community engagement and outreach are a priority for Chief Bauer, especially as law enforcement works to maintain the trust of the community and strives to enhance the relationships with community members. 

He is also an instructor for the MN Bureau of Criminal Apprehension Supervision Certificate, teaching the Mentoring and Coaching Employees course across the State of Minnesota.  He holds a doctorate degree in Organization Development and Change from the University of St. Thomas.  His doctoral research was a case study examining the impact of a Use of Self Development Intervention on police officers.
