The City of Wyoming has been awarded the Legacy Grant
The City of Wyoming has received a Minnesota Historical & Cultural Heritage Grant (also known as a Legacy Grant). This grant is providing additional funding to the City of Wyoming to construct its new Railroad Park project in downtown Wyoming. This park is the site for our annual Tree Lighting event on the first Saturday in December.
The Railroad Park Project will be comprised of three stages. The first stage is the Veteran’s Memorial project, the second stage is the Wyoming History Walk, and the third stage is the installation of the performance stage and any remaining minor improvements. Work on this project began in November of 2023 and has continued through 2024 and into 2025. We anticipate that project reaching completion this year.
For a full overview of the project, all public donators, photos of each stage, and the overall concept plan, please view our dedicated Railroad Park Project website!
What is a Legacy Grant?
Legacy Grants – also referred to as the Minnesota Historical & Cultural Heritage Grants program – is a competitive process created to provide financial support for projects focusing on preserving Minnesota’s history and culture. This is a state-funded program which is made possible by the Arts & Cultural Heritage Fund (which uses sales tax revenue resulting from the Clean Water, Land, & Legacy amendment voted on in Minnesota on November 4, 2008).
