Old US Highway 61 sign dedication set in Wyoming

6 p.m. at Sunrise Prairie Trailhead 

The public is invited to attend a “Old US Highway 61” sign dedication ceremony Thursday, June 14 at the Sunrise Prairie Trailhead Park in Wyoming (across from Wyoming City Hall and Giese Memorial Library).

The program starts at 6 p.m. The evening will also include a farmers market, music, and arts in the program.

Chisago County Commissioner Ben Montzka will present a “Old US Highway 61” sign to Wyoming Mayor Eric Peterson and city council members to begin the historic highway campaign. The campaign is being designed to encourage motorists to get off I-35 and drive the old federal highway which starts 1400 miles to the south in New Orleans.

The initial goal of the campaign is to lure motorists to drive the old highway from Wyoming to Duluth, and possibly to the border with Canada.
