EMS Only Responder

About:

The Wyoming Fire Department is launching a new EMS Responder Only program designed to enhance our community's emergency response capabilities. This paid-on-call role requires candidates to live or work within 8 minutes of the Wyoming Fire Station. As part of this team, you will carry a pager to receive emergency notifications, then proceed to the station to collect equipment and respond to various emergencies, including lift assist, cardiac events, strokes, seizures, and falls. Team members will receive training to at least the Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) level, and while prior medical experience is preferred, we will provide support for those interested in pursuing EMT training.

 

General Duties:

  1. Respond to emergency and non-emergency medical calls perform high quality patient assessments.
  2. Assess patients by taking vitals, which include but not limited to Blood Pressure, Blood Sugars levels, mental status, breathing and heart rate, etc.
  3. Open and maintain airway and ventilate patients.
  4. Administer CPR
  5. Must live and/or work within 8 minutes of the Wyoming Fire Station
  6. Providing emergency medical care of simple and multiple system trauma
  7. Assess patients SAMPLE history and gather information by verbally interviewing patient, family members or bystanders to give to the ambulance crew.
  8. Assist with Patient care on vehicle accidents/extrication.

 

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

  1. Must have a high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  2. Valid driver's license
  3. Acquire and maintain EMR or above certification
  4. Acquire and maintain CPR & AED certification
